Ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is a medical procedure used to obtain tissue or fluid samples from a specific area of the body, typically a lump or mass, for diagnostic purposes. During this procedure, a trained healthcare provider uses ultrasound imaging to guide the insertion of a thin, hollow needle into the targeted area. The needle is used to extract a sample of cells or fluid, which is then examined under a microscope to determine the nature of the tissue or fluid, such as whether it is benign or malignant.
